2023 Membership Benefits

      Highlights of membership is as follows:

 * Receive a United States Golf Association handicap index through an online account from the CT State Golf Association. You will post your scores into your online account to establish.  

* Eligibility to play in 35+ weekend tournaments where you will compete for gross and net low scores. Seniors (65+) will be eligible to compete for the same from the designated reduced length gold tees. Winners and runners up will receive pro shop credits; amounts are based upon number of entries.  

* Play in our annual Club Championship where you will encounter match play against golfers of similar ability based on USGA handicaps. Top golfers will be entered into the Championship Flight and play from the furthest back tees. There is also a senior division (65+) played from gold tees. Some of the best and most talented golfers in the Greater Waterbury area have won this event over time; it is certainly not easy to do!

 * Free breakfast in the 19th Hole Cafe, during at least three (3) occurrences, on either a Saturday or Sunday of the same weekend usually when a “Major” EMMGA tournament is being played.  

* Opportunity to play in specialty tournaments such as the very popular “Member-Member” where you and your partner take on other teams via match play; in this tournament the stakes are higher and thus the payouts are much more lucrative.  

* A chance to participate in fun events, for a meager sign up fee, such as the one club tourney, after dark glow ball, and others on a Friday Night with grilled food and beer afterward.  

* Sign up for The Presidents Cup; a Ryder Cup style format with teams picked by the President and Vice President of EMMGA. Red vs. Blue teams is the theme. In the end there will BBQ food and beer; all for a modest entry fee 

* Attend the annual year end banquet, traditionally held the first Friday in November.  The EMMGA will pay towards the cost, making it a great value. This is where the tournament winners receive their prizes and we celebrate the year with food and drink. Free entry into the raffle; $1000+ in merchandise and other prizes. Everyone wins something! 

* Represent East Mountain Golf Course in the annual Mayor’s Cup stroke play event and the Waterbury Republican-American city match play championship. Your membership, which includes the CT State Golf Association Handicap associates you with the East Mountain Golf Course.  

* Golfers of all ability are welcome to join EMMGA; from the best scratch handicap championship golfer to the beginner novice, there is something for everyone. We strive to make the competition equitable and fun. Same for our extra curricular activities.  

* The EMMGA, Inc was established in 1970 and is in its 52nd year; the longevity is no accident. The EMMGA has established standards, by-laws, procedures, and protocols that are very appealing to golfers of all ability. We want to continue this tradition and build upon it.   

* We are a civic minded organization, and a generous one. We have given scholarships to Waterbury Public High School senior golfers as voted by the golf coaches of the Waterbury Public Schools.  We have had fundraisers for fallen firefighters, those with terminal illnesses, junior golf, and others, with remarkable contribution and results. We are very giving with our time and resources.  

* Per our by-laws, must be male, 18yrs old to join. We do embrace junior golf and potential for handicap system for them. Please reply to this post and the admin (me) will do everything possible to help you.
